3When you step into a casino, most people understand that with any game you play, there is a tremendous amount of risk involved. You can leave a casino a millionaire or you can lose it all.
But what you may not know is that not all casino games are equal. Some have far better odds of winning than others.
In this guide, we’ll be taking you through the casino games with the best gambling odds so that you’re more likely to come out on top, whether you’re playing online or in Vegas.
Casino Games with the Best Gambling Odds
The games that give you the best odds of winning are the “table games” or, self-evidently, the games played on those green felt tables past the slot machines. These games would be Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, and a few others.
Let’s break down the odds in each of them, shall we?
If you’re not familiar, Blackjack is a game played between you and the dealer. The goal of the game is to have the numerical value of your cards be higher than the dealer and get as close to 21 as possible without going over. In this game, number cards hold the value of their number, face cards are worth 10 and Aces are worth 1 or 11.
You are given two cards at first, one face-down and one face-up. You have to make a guess about what the value of the face-down card is and if you think you can get closer to 21, you ask for another card. You do this until you decide to stop or go over 21.
Blackjack is perhaps the easiest card game to play in a casino and it also gives you the best odds of winning. You only play against one person, the dealer, and in most in-game situations, the dealer has an odds-edge of just 1%.
Of course, this is only true if you play the game right. The strategy is simple – there are just a few rules you have to abide by upon receiving the first two cards:
- If you have 8 or below, “hit” or ask for another card.
- If you have 9, double your bets. If the dealer has 2 or 7, hit.
- If you have a 10 and the dealer has a card between 2 and 9, you should double your bet.
- Always “stand” or end the round if your cards value between 17 and 21.
Baccarat is one of the oldest casino games, but the average person probably only has a passing familiarity with the game. It’s been featured in a few James Bond movies, but it otherwise isn’t as popular today as Poker or Blackjack.
However, Baccarat is very similar to Blackjack except that instead of 21, you are trying to get the numerical value of a hand as close to 9 as possible. You also have the ability to bet on two different hands, the “Banker’s hand” or the “Player’s hand.” You can also bet that the game will end in a tie.
Because you can bet on more outcomes and the principles of the game are very similar to blackjack, the odds are similarly great.
The game may be called craps, but the odds are anything but. Next to Blackjack, Craps the second-best odds in a casino, with each outcome being about 50-50.
Now, the rules of Craps may seem difficult, but it’s really just a simple dice game where players place bets on a dice rolls made by another player, called the “shooter.”
The shooter’s first dice roll is called the “come out.” You can place bets on this roll by placing chips on the “PASS” or “DON’T PASS” lines on the table. If the dice roll total comes out to a total of 7 or 11, you win if you placed a bet on the PASS line. If the total comes out to a 2 or a 3, you win if you placed a bet on the DON’T PASS line. If the total is 12, neither wins.
If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, that number becomes the “point” on the next roll. If the shooter rolls the point on the next roll, then PASS bets win. If the shooter rolls a 7 on the point roll, then DON’T PASS bets win.
Roulette is another one of those games that seem super tricky from the jump, but its really very simple and the odds are pretty close to 50-50.
Roulette is played by dropping a ball onto a spinning wheel and betting on where it lands on the wheel. There are a ton of slots on this wheel that correspond to a color (red or black) or a number (0-38).
As a better, you can place bets that the ball will land on a certain color, a certain number, or a certain grouping of numbers. The payout from winning a bet increases according to the odds of the bet placed.
For example, placing a bet on red or black gives you a 50-50 shot of winning, as there is an equal number of reds and blacks on the wheel, so the bet payout is 1:1. If you bet $10, you’ll receive $10.
If you place a bet on one number, the odds are 1:37, so the payout is equally rewarding.
Of course, to keep the odds of winning good, you’ll want to mainly stick to betting on colors or groupings of numbers. You can bet on even numbers, odd numbers, 0-11, 12-24, or 25-36. Evens and odds have 1:1 odds and the latter bets have 1:3 odds.
